One week down...

Well the first week of first grade is down. No problems and all is well. The girls seem to be adjusting well to being in different classes and going to school 5 days a week. I think the break from always being around each other will do them good. The do set up play dates with one another at recess. They are really coming into their own. Zoe has taken up gymnastics at a new place. It is totally a recreational thing and she is not even aiming towards an Olympic goal. That is just fine as it is something she is looking forward to every week. Allison has switched ballet places and really takes it seriously. She enjoys it very much. It is a much further drive at the location we are at but Devon and I have worked out our schedules to take her here.

I came down with a horrible sinus and ear infection last weekend. They are both still lingering around. I did not get anything accomplished that I had planned to. This weekend I plan to make up for lost time.

1st graders...

We officially have 1st graders. The girls started today on the 17th. They are in seperate classes (thank goodness). I think they are happy about it too. I had to pretend I was the Papparazzi this morning and snap off the pictures. They did well though. This year they got to move to the older kid playground for recess.

I however have an ear infection as well as a sinus infection. It has been coming on for a few days now so I finally made my way to immediate care on Sunday for the official diagnosis. The sinus part is alright but the ear is so painful.

Devon is receiving a promotion at work so he will be leaving us for a week to go to training. That will stink. Other than that nothing new going on.

Busy Summer

The Dunes, we went a couple weekends ago and they were wonderful. The day started out seeming like it was going to rain and be a muggy day. We ended up at the dunes and it was beautiful. The water was rough so we could not swim at first but we got to explore. Then the afternoon rolled around and the water opened up. The girls had a blast and so did Devon and I. We spent the night in Portage and had dinner at a wonderful little diner. The girls swan in the pool land the next day we went to the Fair Oaks Dairy Farm. We took a tour around and the girls got to play around on several fun things. We even got to see baby cows be born (not too pleasant).

All in all a very fun weekend get away.

Hello Race Fans

Wow what a busy weekend. We started with going to Zoopolis at the Zoo to watch some big turtles race. I got to meet Tony Kanaan there (see attached photo). After that we headed to the track for Community Day. The girls had fun, we drove around the track to make Mr Devon happy.

Friday was Carb Day where the lady friends and I participated in the Carb Day festivities. We had LOTS AND LOTS of drinks. We had a blast.

Saturday was the Playboy Party for Devon and I. We had fun. Lots of dancing, hanging with some Celebrities. We got to see Ludacris, Giles (Naked guy from Sex and the City Movie) , Derek Hough from Dancing with The Stars and Carlos Diaz from Extra. It was nice to dress a little nice and do something fun. And the Conrad is the most gorgeous hotel ever. Their ballrooms are to die for.

Sunday it was Race day!!! We started engines at about 1:10 pm and raced away. My man Will Power did great but fell back and finished 5th. But nobody can hate on Helio for winning. He had a great run. And we had fun here too. Got lots of sun, food and drink. Good times were had by all.
Monday we had a cookout in mind but the rain came down. So we just lounged around and got some much deserved rest after all the running around. Back to the old grind tomorrow.

Mothers Day

Happy Mothers Day to all you moms out there. I started my day by getting 2 adorable handmade plastic bottle vases from the girls. They glued tissue paper all over them and put paper flowers inside them with their pictures on them. We ended up going to Fountain Square today and had a DELICIOUS brunch today. It was some wonderful food. I gave mom her gift of a framed pic of Allison and Zoe (cause you can really never have enough), PJ's and roses.

After we all stuffed our faces and Emily ate every chocolate covered strawberry that she could find, we headed over to Duckpin Bowling. It was all of our first time there. We really enjoyed ourselves. Great times were had by all and we will definatly be doing that again. We headed over to the soda fountain where the good times came to a screeching hault when Zoe had a melt down.

We came home, Allison and I took some flowers to the cemetary and then it was time to weed. We all did some gardening and Devon cut the grass.

Chinese food was our dinner. All in all it was a pretty good day.

We now have mothers day wrapped up. Next up is Girl Scout meetings this week, field trip saturday.

I hope everyone had a great mothers day. Hopefully I can get a picture or two to post.

Here comes the fairy.

Today Zoe lost her front top tooth. She looks so different and of course she is talking a little differnt. Allisons feelings are slightly hurt because she has not lost hers so she will be wiggling her tooth for the next couple months until it falls out.

Other than that Zoe and I are still sick. My throat is on fire, Zoe has a horrible cough but we are making it. Zoe actually stayed home from school today. Last night we met Danya and Ethan at a China Buffet for dinner last night and every time Zoe coughed people were staring like she had Swine Flu.
Tomorrow is FRIDAY!! It is Mothers Day weekend. We will be going to the nice Fountain Square area for Brunch (such a fancy sounding word). Then some Duckpin Bowling.

Busy, busy, busy...

Well the busy weekend is finally over. Unfortunatly the baseball game was a no-go due to the million inches of rain we got. So we went out for a nice family dinner at Frank N Marys instead. Saturday my day of super running around began. We went to one of the girls friends birthday pool parties. I was on top of things making sure we were out of the pool at exactly 3pm.

Then we hauled it home to change clothes and head out to the wedding reception for Mark and Amy. It was wonderful, great food, open bar, lots of dancing, open bar, great music, open bar, beautiful location, oh did I mention that there was an open bar. We had so much fun.

Sunday our feet hurt so bad from our Saturday night dance party I woke up, cut the grass then it was onto Leader/Daughter bowling with Girl Scouts. Of course we all had bumpers. I think a combined score was around 175 for 2 games. Poor little Zoe stepped on the waxed lane and biffed it and fell. But in the end for door prizes her number was pulled (as was mine). A nice older girl gave Allison her prize.

Mom and Dad took Allison to dinner and Devon and I took Zoe for a speical dinner at Bob Evans, which was her decision. Great times had by all and Allison will have her special time next week and her dinner of choice is Steak N Shake.

BLAH!!!

Ugh today my illness got even worse. I ended up going to the doctor and I have a sinus infection and a slight case of strept. With such a busy weekend coming up I hope it improves quickly. I cam home and crashed right out for a couple hours. Feeling a tad bit better now, but hopefully I will get a good nights sleep.

I really need to get on the ball and plan this vacation in October. I seem to fall off the vacation band wagon the past couple years. I think this time we will not take nearly as much luggage as we took before. We always tend to overpack and take 20 more outfits than necessary. Plus on the cruise I think we lived in our swimsuits.

The girls had fun today torturing poor little Toby. That dog is getting more love than he bargained for. Allison asked me if when our dogs died if we could get a puppy. So now she is wishing our dogs dead. Puppies are like babies, cute for a bit then you have to clean up after them.

Well hopefully tomorrow is a better day. The weekend is just around the corner and it is jammed packed.

Rainy days are here again....

Another rainy day, ugh I cannot wait until the rain goes away and these May flowers can sprout up. We have an addition to my parents side of the family. Toby Bauer (I picked the middle name) is the new adorable puppy that is in the family. I need to get a picture of him. He is one of the most adorable puppies I have ever seen. He is super sweet too. He was so cute running in the grass on monday attacking the dandelions. He is going to be a big boy though you can definatly tell that!!! It is nice that they are going to have a big dog in the family again. Since Blizzard died it has been awhile since a big dog has been in the family (with the exception of big boy Bowie of course).

Swine Flu has officially hit Indiana and I am officially obsessed. The good news is our fall cruise is not stopping anywhere near Mexico. The bad news is I think by October I do not think it matters. I am going to continue to plan our vacation as scheduled but things can change.

Beautiful weekend!!!

Wow what a busy, beautiful weekend. Saturday Devon took the girls to a park for some hiking and playtime while I worked. I spent hours at Lowes trying to get some assistance carrying our new Bistro out to the car. We got our new lights out by the front door and a fountain. Yes the Nelsons are turning FANCY!!!! I have begun painting the sunroom but have decided it will take years since painting brick is the worlds biggest pain in the butt. We invited the family over for a cookout which was nice. Devon made some hotdogs and hamburgers. Of course we had to light up the firepit to make Smores.
Sunday was a day of hiking at Turkey Run. We got there around 10 am and did not get home till about 5 pm. It was a great day and very low traffic. The girls loved being able to run in the streams in their new water shoes. I think we might attempt a canoe ride later this year.
So another work week ahead!!! And then a super busy weekend next weekend.

Warmth is here

Today the sun was out and it was beautiful!!! This weekend is supposed to be wonderful. I believe the plans for us are to mow the lawn, paint the sunroom and take up some hiking in Turkey Run. It will be super fun.

Getting back in the groove...

So Easter came and went just as I predicted. I was the big winner in the Arkanoff easter egg smackdown with a whopping $36 won. WOOT!!!

We had the big pre Earth Day festivities last weekend with the girl scout troop that went pretty well. I did however get a sun burn so that sucked. It was a beautiful day. Danya and I hung out over Saturday night and had a great evening together. Sunday was moms b-day dinner full of food and ice cream.

I did take Allison and Zoe out for a day of beauty at the spa. We all got a pedicure and they got their nails painted. They were so cute sitting there all still while they got little flowers painted on their tiny fingers. Now I need to attempt to master the art of flowers on the nails since that is their new obsession.

We have canceled our Turkey Run trip mothers day weekend. Devon has to work and with family dinner we would not get to spend much time up there. I think that we might try to head there one day this weekend though.

We have been trying to get our summer plans together. The girls will be attending a day camp for 1 week. And more than likely they will be doing summer dance classes. I am toying with Allison going to the Indiana School of Ballet but their classes are during the week at 4:30 which is near impossible for us to get to with us both working. Other than that we are definatly going to make it to the Dunes this summer. For the past 3 years we have talked about it and this year we are making it happen!!!

No exciting summer concerts are scheduled yet this summer unless you are old or a teenager so we will be saving some money there.

Tomorrow is portfolio night at school, so expect an update then.

Busy weekend....

So this is the weekend where so many will pretend to be religious. What the Nelson family will be participating in is the following....

Friday night is a pool b-day party for one of the girls friends. That will be a fun filled night of me trying to drag them out of the pool with crying and whining of them insisting the party is not over.

Saturday- I will struggle in waking them up to go to the Easter Egg hunt, AKA candy fest 2009. I am sure it will be cold and more than likely rainy. This is waht we all do as parents. We will get there the kids will ask 1 million times if it is time to go yet then the horn will finally sound. They will run out and in 3 seconds all the candy and eggs will be scooped up by all the darling Brownsburg children. We will then struggle getting them into the car and listen to the crys of the egg hunt not really being over so soon. I might then go home and start drinking because it will be noon more than likely.

Sunday- I will once again struggle with waking up the girls, but first I will remember that the Easter Bunny forgot to put the baskets together. I will run around the house trying to remember where we hid everything. Devon and I will get in a fight about where we hid all the goodies. Eventually we will find half of the items we bought. The girls will then wake up and we will have to rush to make it to our exciting Easter Brunch at the Holiday Inn Pyramids. We will get there only to have the girls wonder why we can not swim in the water park. We will eat quickly because throughout dinner we will be asked 900 times when we will be doing the Easter Egg hunt at my parents. Once again the lovely Indiana weather will blow so the easter outfits for the girls will not be appropriate they will get ill and freeze.

I am looking forward to singing on some rockband and having mamosas!!! The day will come to a close and the girls will look at me and say we did not do anything all weekend.

WHAT!!!!!

So this is spring???

Yeah this is spring??? It is so cold outside. Freezing as a matter of fact. Hopefully it warms up in time for the Easter Egg hunt this weekend. These are the times you really wonder why you live in this part of the world. I guess the low cost of housing??? Who knows.

Just thought I would wish everyone a happy spring LOL. Not one exciting thing to report here. I have been considering highlights in my hair. Yes I know huge jump for me. I caught a photo of me from 2 years ago and think I can sport that hot look again.

So Busy...

We have been so busy lately... Not much to report. Spring Break was LAME. It was cold here. We are going on our family vacation in October doing a 4 day cruise with 4 days at Disney so we will save our excitement for then. Of course I have started my obsessive planning for that.

Went dress shopping with Brandy and found a really cute black one that fit me pretty well. Other than that we just had a fun girls night out and that is about it.

Workout

So today was day 1 of working out. Man was it hard. 1 hour of cardio, step, weights there was a little bit of everything in there. In 2 days I am going to be in so much pain it will be ridiculous. But Brandy and I are going to stick with our 1 day a week plan right now and hopefully build ourselves up to a little more.

We are closing in on the weekend here, half day friday, work saturday and take the kiddos to get their haircut. Good times.

Weekend...

Well the dance came and went. Devon and my dad had fun. I think it was much better than they expected. I enjoyed my evening on the couch alone. It was not even enough time to watch a movie before they came home.

We had a fun weekend and had great family time. Tomorrow comes the first workout with Brandy. Time to get my 10 pounds off.

Happy Spring.

Can't remember if today is the first day of Spring or if it was yesterday but anyways, Happy Spring. When you have 2 kids it all runs together. All I know is it was cold.

A miracle happened today, I finished up Girl Scout Cookies. It was one of the best days of my life. Not sure how many more years of being a cookie mom I can handle. We saw the Brownsburg production of Beauty and The Beast tonight and it was wonderful. They did a great job. The costumes and backgrounds were fantastic.

Tomorrow Devon is taking the girls to the father daughter dance and grandpa is getting the pleasure of going along too. We will have to have the camera ready.

Monday, monday....

What can I say about today. I guess it was pretty, no rain, no snow it was jsut right. The girls still have the sniffles. I am waiting for Southwest to come out with their airfares still for October and that is about it. Good times to be had by all.

An eventful weekend.

Well we kicked off the weekend by trying to go to the new casino to hang out with the cool people of Indy. After spending roughly 2.5 hours in traffic and then 1 hour in line, we gave up the fight. We drove to the Anderson casino where Devon won some cash and we had a 3 am feast at Dennys. I can always count on Danya to join in my crazy antics.

Sat was b-day party time and Hockey game. Today we went to the auction where we found a pretty antique desk that I am turning into a vanity. All I need is a mirror.

All in all a great weekend. Girl Scout cookie sales are almost finished and we can return to some sort of normal system in this house if that is possible.

Is it going to get warm???

It was yet another chilly day in Brownsburg here. There is some crazy rumour out there that it is supposed to get warm here soon. We will see I guess. The most exciting part of the day today would have been George Clooney on ER. Once you get to the age I am at that is what does it anymore. So onto the start of the weekend (kinda). It is friday at the old workplace tomorrow. This must be an exciting read to the 1 person that reads it!!!

30 something.

I am officially 31 years old. Yippee. I am now 30 something. Doesn't feel any different, just another day. I got some flowers, cards and stuff. It was movie night at the school so the girls got to hang with their friends and watch Wall E while Devon and I ate some yummy dinner together. So nice of the school to coordinate that together.

Tonight was yet another Daisy Scout meeting. We made Spring Globes and I am stoked to say they were a HIT!!!!! They loved them and it was all a sucess. We earned a patch and it was another sucessful Daisy hour. WOOT WOOT. Other than that I have 2 mildly sick kids.

Oh and Allison wants to eat at what she calls the best steak place around, Frank and Marys in Pittsboro. When she grows up she will be a little angry when she finds out that is a hamburger without a bun :)

So that is all I have fo y'all now.

Friday, March 6, 2009

Beautiful day.

It was 70 degrees today. It was gorgeous, too bad I had to work. Luckily it was Friday so I got off at 5 and the girls wanted to play outside a bit. We had some dinner and then headed to the auction to hang with grandma and grandpa to see what kind of good stuff we could find.

The best buy of the night for us was a new bed frame for Devon and I. I think we might actually get to imrove our bedroom this spring or summer. So a coat of paint will do the room good, along with our awesome new bed frame.

Tomorrow is the big Spring Fling at the girls school. I will be working the candy wheel!!!

Growing up....

So you know when your kids are growing up because they start talking about when they are going to get married (and they are only 6). Allison told me that she was going to have 1 boy and a girl. But that she would have to still come over to my house at bed time so that I could make her stuffed Pooh Bear talk to her. It is moments like that that make your heart melt.

Zoe on the other hand wishes she would never grow up. She wants to stay little forever and never leave us. She just wants to be like Peter Pan and move to NeverLand, but who can blame her. Nobody wants to have responsibility.

Children may throw fits and be big pains in the butts, people may roll their eyes and stare at you at these moments, but people are not with us at these moments when they are as sweet as can be. With the pain Devon and I have experienced these little girls are the light to us.

First post....

Hello folks, well this will be my first attempt at "blogging" and we will see if I stick with it. It is something I wish I would have done when the girls were babies but really who has the time to do that. So now that they are 6 years old here is my attempt to do that.

So where is the Nelson family in our lives right now. Just here, we are simple people that like simple things. We do not have to brag on fancy designers or have the new things to show people. We just traded in the family car for a new/used car. Why get Gap when there is Old Navy.

So here I am getting ready to turn 31 and a mother to 6 year old twins. A Daisy Scout leader to about 10 girls, getting ready to hit the local stores to sell cookies. Whoever knew me 15 years ago would think that was a total joke. But I would not trade it for anything.

So more to follow later......
